GCN Avoriaz will take you on an alpine adventure to explore some of the epic routes and climbs that have hosted some of the most exciting racing in cycling history. Avoriaz itself has hosted a stage finish of the Tour de France six times, most recently on stage 8 of the 2010 Tour won by Andy Schleck.
The resort of Avoriaz will be our base for the event and sits at an altitude of 1800m. It can be reached from Morzine with two routes up via the main Avoriaz climb (14km, average 6%) and the Col du Joux Verte (12.5km, average 6.5%) which will play host to the GCN KOM/QOM Challenge. But don’t worry, some of the routes will finish at the Prodains cable car in Morzine to transport you and your bike back to Avoriaz.
Riders will take in some inspiring scenery at a pace that suits them with a variety of groups available including: Pro, Faster, Medium, and Slower! Each ride group will be fully supported with guides and vehicles providing drinks, nutrition and mechanical support. Our GCN presenters will also be out on the road throughout the event, and will join the different groups each day with advice, inspiration and challenges!
On the first day we’ll also host an ‘orientation’ ride option where beginners will be provided with training covering areas such as ride etiquette, safety and top tips on how to ride in a group.
We are also introducing our new masterclasses which will be available on the two main ride days giving you the chance to get more in depth advice and coaching over a shorter route. The masterclasses will be designed to help you develop your skills as a cyclist and will enable guests to tailor your cycling experience to suit your abilities and objectives. The sessions will be led by a leading coach and GCN presenter - more details on the routes are provided below. Please note that these may be subject to change.
