The ever-popular activity-sharing platform Strava is seen as the place to upload your rides, runs and other workouts. It's not just those in the mortal world that use it though with plenty of pro riders also logging their kilometres on the app.

When the pros take to uploading their rides it gives us a peak behind the curtain of just what it means to be a professional cyclist. Both training rides and races are frequently uploaded and with the segment feature if you have ridden the same roads as the pros you can compare your effort to theirs. With all this in mind and in no particular order we have put together our list of the top 10 riders that we think you should follow on Strava.

1. Wout Van Aert

The Belgium all-rounder has already uploaded 238,000 kilometres worth of rides with a total ride time in excess of 7300 hours. A decent effort! One of the great things about Van Aert is that he is a very consistent user of the platform uploading the bulk of his racing and training rides. After a nasty crash at this year's Dwars door Vlaanderen Van Aert is on the road to recovery documenting his progress as he goes. To keep up to date with his return to racing and to share some words of encouragement head over to his profile.

2. Demi Vollering

Demi Vollering has a palmarès that any professional rider would be happy with. She has taken the overall victory at the Tour de France Femmes Avec Zwift, Tour de Romandie and most recently the Vuelta España Feminina. The best part about these wins is that all of them have made their way onto Strava for everyone to see. It is not just cycling that Vollering uploads either, she has also uploaded over 200 runs including an impressive half marathon.

3. Annemiek Van Vleuten

Van Vleuten could seemingly win bike races at will during her time as a professional. The now-retired rider hasn’t slowed things down as is clear on her Strava page. In 2024 alone she has uploaded nearly 5,000 kilometres of riding and has recently completed the Transcordilleras gravel race in Columbia. To keep up to date with what the retired life looks like for Van Vleuten make sure to give her a follow.

4. Sepp Kuss

The 2023 Vuelta España winner is one of the most active pros on Strava and in 2023 took 808 KoMs, more than any other rider. This year he has already posted more than 12,000 kilometers and 400 hours of riding. Kuss also has some of the most coveted Strava segments in his trophy case with the American holding the fastest uploaded time on Alpe d’Huez completing the climb in 36:07. It is not just rides that Kuss uploads either with plenty of pictures often accompanying his more adventurous rides, he is certainly a rider that will keep you interested.

5. Keegan Swenson

It would appear that right now Swenson is the undisputed king on the gravel scene. He has claimed victories in countless gravel races and is never far off the top step of the podium and claimed the overall series victory in the LifetimeGP last year. Swenson is certainly not shy of a big ride, back in 2022 he uploaded a 547-kilometre ride from the 24 hours of Old Pueblo mountain bike race where he unsurprisingly took the win in the solo category.

6. Sofia Gomez Villafane

Villafane is another gravel specialist to keep your eyes on. Riding for Specialized Off-road and much like Swenson she has ridden to victory at pretty much all of the biggest gravel races on the calendar. Taking a look at her profile really shows just what goes into being competitive at the pointy end of the toughest gravel races as she shared both her training rides and races. That includes last year's Leadville 100 where she took the win.

7. Illi Gardner

One of Strava’s best-loved features is the ability to compete for KoM or QoM titles across millions of segments all over the world. One rider who has more than her fair share of QoMs is Illi Gardner. In fact, she holds the record for the most QoMs of any rider on Strava with more than 9,000 to her name. Gardner also holds the women’s Everesting world record with the ride uploaded to Strava for everyone’s mind to be blown by.

8. Tadej Pogačar

This is one rider that needs no introduction. The winner of two Tours de France, three Il Lombardia’s, two Liegè-Bastogne-Liegè, a Tour of Flanders and countless other races is also a dabbler in the world of Strava. Although certainly not a devout uploader he does tend to post the main bulk of his racing calendar including this year's Liegè-Bastonge-Liegè which he won in dominant fashion. As you might expect from a rider of Pogačar's calibre he has some of the most prestigious KoMs. One of which is the Col de la Madone just outside Monaco, which is a regular test piece for the best cyclists in the world.

9. Romain Bardet

If you are looking to see just how hard professional riders work then look no further than Romain Bardet’s Strava profile. The Frenchman is certainly not shy of putting in the hard graft and recording some monstrous rides. Bardet is a consistent uploader and is currently competing in the Giro d’Italia making him a great follow if you want to see just how hard the racing is.

10. Andrew Feather

Rounding out our top 10 is friend of GCN Andrew Feather. He's the man with the most KoMs on Strava with more than 4,000 to his name. If you live in the southwest of the UK it is likely that you will see Feather’s name at the top of any segment that heads uphill. It is not just the south of England where Feather reigns supreme, he also has plenty of KoMs across Europe.
